Welcome to Old Colony Anglers

Who we are

We're a free to join anglers club with no membership dues. We're a community of people who love fishing and a place where parents can bring their kids to learn the sport, including parents who aren't totally sure how it all works themselves.
As needed, someone here will be able to help you tie a knot, bait a hook, and read the water. Nobody is going to make you feel like you should be an expert day one. Questions are welcome, as we are focused on making sure the next generation gets hooked too.

Where we fish

We're a Halifax based group, so we usually end up fishing in Monponsett, Stetson Pond, and Burrage Pond. Nobody here is too proud to be excited about a good-sized bluegill.

When we fish

Spring, summer, and sometimes fall. We're not hardcore enough for ice fishing. The goal is to have a meetup once a month over the summer, with many more informal "I'm fishing East Lake Monponsett this weekend at 8am. Anyone want to join?" style meetups coordinated through the Facebook group. There will be no monthly attendance sheet, and no required events. If we do any events involving food, there will be signups in advance.

Who we are not

We are not a tournament club. Nobody's weighing your stringer, and if that's what you're after, you'll probably have more fun somewhere else. You're still welcome to join, just know that tournament fishing is not the speed of the group. While not everyone here has kids, our outings are family-friendly, which means they're kid-safe, catch and release, and alcohol-free. If that sounds like your speed, you'll fit right in.
